Beach Vacation : Day Four

I apologize for the delay in "Beach Vacation: Day Four" but on day four of our vacation our computer crashed. We have just now restored it and gotten all our software back up and running. So I'm going to post day's four, five, six and seven.
On day four of our vacation we went to Roanoke Island to the Aquarium. On the way there we stopped at the Bodie Island Light house. Macy and Laney slept through it but it was pretty. They woke up for the Aquarium. It was definitely put to shame by the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. I don't think aquariums will ever be the same. But at any rate Macy thoroughly enjoyed the turtles, alligators and the BIG sharks. She was fascinated by the big tank at the end of the aquarium. It only took us about 20 minutes to go through the whole thing so we went back through when we got to the end. Macy hit all her favorites, which included petting the sting ray and starfish again.

While we were in Roanoke Island a Nor'easter was coming through the NC coast and we had to leave early. We had planned on seeing the Lost Colony but heard on the radio that the road in Rodanthe (10 miles North of Avon) was flooding and would be closed within the hour. So we headed back and its a good thing we made it just in time. There was about 6-8 inches of water we had to drive through in Rodanthe and high tide was about 2 hours away.
Later that evening we went to the ocean to see the tide come up and it was so high and rough that it covered the steps going down to the beach area. There were about 10-15 ft waves, it was crazy. It was definitely a sight to see.
