We got in to Avon, NC at about 9pm last night. Macy and Grace were already in bed (they rode down earlier with Grammy and Pop). We got up this morning (at 5:45 of course) and Macy, Grammy, Pop and I took a walk to the beach. Macy got to see the Ocean for the first time. It was a little bit
overwhelming with the waves and the noise but she walked around the sand and chased the birds.

We came back and ate breakfast then headed for the beach again. This time to play and swim. Although, there wasn't much swimming going on. The surf was very strong and the tide was high. Lori and I rode the boogie board a couple of times but the surf was so strong that we could barely walk into the ocean. Laney enjoyed sitting at the edge and let the shallow part of the waves hit her. She was having a blast.

Macy and Grace thoroughly enjoyed playing in the sand. Ben build several sand castles that they stomped. I think they could have played a while. Grace and Macy went in the the ocean once (with the help of their mothers) and let the waves hit their feet. The
screamed a ran away and they didn't touch the water the rest of the day.

Macy and Grace (and
everyone else) had sand all over them. Luckily our beach house has an outdoor shower. Macy wasn't too keen on it. In fact I think she would have
preferred the ocean to the outdoor shower. But she braved it and got all the sand off. After that she came back and took a 4 hour nap. She slept from 1:00 to 4:30. Jason was very appreciative since that was the duration of the Redskins game (which they won!!) I don't really know what's in store for tomorrow but that's the beauty of this vacation...there are no plans!
